My Top 10 Books Read in 2022

Updated: Nov 18, 2023

If you haven't figured it out by now, reading is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I would rather curl up on the couch with a good book instead of watching TV 90% of the time.

Although pleasure reading is a large part of my life now, during grad school I felt like I had no time to do it other than breaks. Since graduation in December of 2021, I have picked this hobby back up where I left off. 2022 was a good year for getting back into reading, and I read some great books.

My friends, family and coworkers know I'm a reader. For this reason, we often exchange book recommendations. I recently just got back from a trip this weekend, and while traveling my friend and I were discussing our favorite books we've read. This sparked the idea for my blog post!

I am happy to share with you the top 10 books I read in 2022! And don't worry, there won't be any spoiler alerts!! 😇

PSA: This list is based solely on my subjective opinion 🙂🩷

10. The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

The Maidens is a book holding a twist within the pages. I like trying to figure out the mystery within the book and cracking it before it's revealed, however, I always hate when it's too predictable. This book is the perfect balance of this. A really cool thing about this book is that Michaelides connects this world and the world of his other book (also on this list) The Silent Patient.

9. Layla by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover is an author that dominates this list. She is a powerhouse of an author and my favorite. Layla is a different style of book than what CoHo usually writes, but definitely worth the read. It's an enjoyable, yet unique story.

8. Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson

This is the second book in A Good Girls Guide to Murder (AGGGTM) series. In my opinion, the 1st and 2nd books of the series are the best. This book is an easy read and will keep you wanting more. This sequel is just as good as the first book, which I find is not often the case! Another reason it's so good!

7. A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

This is the first book of AGGTM series. This book is great for those that like mystery, but are scared of reading anything too dark. This book is easy to read, and will keep you coming back for more shenanigans with Pip!

6. November 9th by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover, of course, works her magic again. This novel is a beautiful story. It leaves your heart yearning for more. You can't help but route for the main characters the whole way through. In my top 5 of Colleen Hoover books, easily, AND in the top 10 of my favorite books ever read.

5. The Silent Patient by Alex Michealides

This book is the first book that I read that truly left my mind blown 🤯. It is complex with different layers, and a great read. One of my go-tos to give for book recommendations in a conversation, and trust me it does not disappoint.

4. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

This book is a little dark and twisty. And honestly, that's why I love it!! Nothing like a juicy thriller to keep the pages turning!! The book is also a little shorter at just under 300 pages, making it a pretty quick read!

3. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Honestly, I couldn't decide on placing this book here or in the #2 spot. It is an addicting read, and like most of Colleen Hoover's work, hard to put down. This book is definitely finishable in one sitting. It's a powerful story that really shows the beauty in strength.

2. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

This book is a great romantic read, with a side of tragedy looming in the characters background. It is a page turner, heart breaker, heart warmer, and will keep you flipping the pages wanting more.

1.Verity by Colleen Hoover

Honestly this book belongs in the #1 spot. It's a romantic thriller that I could not put down. It kept me turning every page always wanting to read more and to this day, it is probably my favorite book I have ever read. I 10/10 recommend this book!

What books do you recommend? Please share in comments!!

I‘ve read almost all of the books on your list and agree 100%! Two books not on your list that I recommend are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and The Golden Couple!
